
The aim of the MEYTIC project is to bring together youth organizations from island and mainland regions, in order to exchange ideas on perceptions and feelings of belonging to Europe, as well as best practices in citizenship and participatory democracy, through educational and cultural activities.
To arouse the interest and encourage the involvement of young people who are indifferent or even reject Europe because of their geographical distance and/or their precarious social and economic situation. The project partners are keen to experiment with creative ideas, using interaction methods and educational and entertaining activities on European topics of interest to young people. To this end, the use of creative and attractive modes of interaction such as
podcasts, radio, game shows, speed dating with young elected representatives during open days, «demokratiks» forums and competitions.
Objectives
- Promote European citizenship and improve the conditions for civic and democratic participation in the Union of European Island Regions,
- Encourage the democratic and civic participation of citizens at EU level, by promoting opportunities for societal, intercultural and voluntary engagement at EU level between young people from Europe's island regions and their counterparts in mainland regions.

Activities
Project activities were organized around four transnational events, relayed by local events in each partner territory. During these transnational events, the partner organizations were able to present their views and take part in debates on issues linked to their sense of belonging to Europe, by taking part in events and meetings with a large audience, such as :
- The World Democracy Forum in France on the theme «My city, my Europe».»
- European Local Democracy Week - ELDW on the theme: ‘Culture transforms people into better citizens»
- Transnational conferences on the theme «From European citizenship to political citizenship».
- International Youth Festival on the theme of «New forms of participatory democracy versus e-democracy».
